I'm starting to wonder about Larry. So Larry called NLOTH No Craic On the Horizon. I snickered.
And then I started to get concerned.
Does that mean Larry is actually partly responsible for Boots?
I doubt it. It’s an Edge riff and the band tried to copy the Vertigo formula for another hit
big riff intro/soft verses with scratchy guitar/chorus big riff/bridge
They tried it a 3rd time with the Miracle and didn’t work again.
It’s basically the band on auto pilot
Larry actually likes Boots or at least defended it. He says it has one of U2's fastest Tempo's.
I'd like to see the quote. My recollection is that he was surprised by the initial composition because it did indeed have the fastest temp of any U2 song. He didn't defend it as much as simply reacted to it with surprise.
I doubt the song is on his regular rotation or he's arguing to play it live.
It was an interview on TV, not something I read. It is a fast song, but I never thought it was one of their fastest tempo's. But I guess it is. He simply smiled and said one of U2's fastest tempo's, as if to say, you should really check this song out.
