« on: August 25, 2024, 03:10:22 PM »
Word has it, that Noel and Liam G have sorted their differences out and Oasis will reform for some shows next smmer. Talk of shows in Manchester and 10 shows at Wembley. I wont be going, they arent for me, but thought might appreciate being updated.
Apparently, the shows are to be confirmed ths coming week...so, not long to wait

They'll make a fortune, a bomb load of fat old men wearing shit bucket hats will pay ridiculous amounts of money to stand and bellow Don't Look Back in Anger etc tunelessly as they watch some old men who are mere dots on a stage half a mile away phone it in, and the media will wet their collective pants about it all.

I'm all for people going out to enjoy themselves and people will, but fuck me Oasis is not for me. Bands generally have a sell by date and even most Oasis fans would likely agree theirs was about 28 years ago...It is IMO a bit sad that bands do this nostalgia stuff - but money talks, always has, always will and these doing this was always inevitable - totally inevitable.

But hey to each his own and all that - pretty harmless stuff really.

I liked the first two albums and some of the B-Sides from that period (The Masterplan, a collection of B-Sides from mainly 94-96, is worth checking out) but the thought of a reunion bores me intensely. It's not as though they ever went away, both of the Gallagher brothers are always mouthing off about something or other in the media. They are over-exposed as it it.

look, as someone who owned WTSMG in 95 <maybe 96>, but totally ignored them until 09 <i thought theyd broken up years before>, i'd go to see this. I've seen Noel solo 4 times <i LOVED his first 2 solo albums> and Liam doesnt tour the USA at all. I'm wondering who from the OTHER members of the band will come back? as much as Noel hates the post-WTSMG albums i wonder if the setlist will only be the first 3 albums? if they dont come to america id be bummed for sure.

A lazy reunion. But no different to any other & they will make millions.

Liam and Noel have been performing Oasis songs on there solo tour for years.

The only difference now is it's just that they will be on stage together performing them.

New music would have got me interested. Always a slim chance they could release a couple of classics.

Careful, newbie....There was a feller called Larry on here before - absolutely full of negativity about just about everything except the stuff he liked....

He eventually flounced like a stroppy princess....

28 years ago cuts out over half their albums.  Know nothing will change your tune but i still say both brothers are releasing great music.

I'm more than stoked by the news but it will be unlikely that i'll get to see them if they're only playing to locations.  What i'm reading is that it will only be Liam and Noel from the band and the High Flying Birds will be performing.  I'd love to see the original band back to together (although never would expect to original drummer to be involved).  Bonehead is already playing with Liam at his shows so i'm surprised if he's not involved.  The brothers always said he was the heart and soul of Oasis.
I actually care more about getting a new album than i do a few shows.  There will obviously be a live album they release of them, but i just want new music.
