Game: A song similar to a U2 song

So here’s a game we can try. Someone names a U2 song. Someone else suggests any non U2 song that feels similar in some way - could be a similar melody, lyrical subject, drum hook, vibe, bass line, whatever. And explain the perceived similarity.

So I’ll start it off with Sunday Bloody Sunday.

The next person should:

1) Suggest a non U2 song that is similar

2) Say how they think the song is similar

3) Post a U2 song for the next poster to respond to

OK, I’ll play.

Immediately thought of Midnight Oil when you suggested something similar to SBS

The Dead Heart fits the bill I believe. Same kind of drum beat, passionate singing, the production is similar. To my ears, anyways.

Obviously Zombie fits the bill in terms of theme….. for me, SBS is also similar to Killing in the name of

That one is tough. It’s a very very U2 song. So I’d have to toss out One Love by Bob Marley, and assume I don’t have to explain why.

How about In a Little While?
