I actually struggle with the concept of choosing a Best or Favorite. Most people find the question straightforward. I do not.
For example, for me the song on an album that I consider to be objectively the best is rarely the same as the one I consider subjectively my favorite.
Furthermore, my subjective favorite is difficult to define. The one I would be most excited if it just came up on shuffle, maybe? But that depends on factors like how long it’s been since I last heard it, and what mood I’m in at the moment.
If I were to rank all songs on a given album, and did it five different times, you’d have five different lists. There would be themes, some songs consistently in the top three, maybe. And likely the same song rated last.
But I’ve learned to not worry about it and I just give whatever answer seems right at the time. Nobody cares what I vote for. It’s just fun.
I don’t know what song is underrated. I just pick the song that I think gets less attention or maybe gets unfairly shit on.
Two Hearts fit that for me, not shit on but not really held up as a strong song. It’s not that strong of a song, really, but the lyrics of one verse resonate nicely for me, so it got my vote.
It’s fun because we’ll recognize songs that never win Best.
