What great things that have happened to you at U2 gigs?
« on: November 17, 2017, 03:37:36 PM »
As I was sitting here typing with the rain hammering down outside I was reminded of one of my favourite moments at a U2 show.

I can't remember anything about the music but I was at their Moscow gig on 360. I was in GA a few rows back and it just poured and poured with rain. Somehow it made everyone feel even better. With rain streaming down our faces everyone was in it together. People had their arms around each others shoulders as they sang and danced. Language was not a barrier. Just a great moment.

What great things have happened to you at a U2 gig?

too funny, il_capo! I consider it an tha's loss.
And, yeah, I'm still (even after 2-1/2 years!) amazed that I met Adam...I don't think I'll ever be quite "right in the head" again... ;D

In the summer my buddy and me thought we were paying 110 a piece for tickets through a guy we met on @U2. But they were 55 a piece.  Put the savings towards beers inside the Linc.  Great buzz.   And there were no shows in our row so we had room to space out.

Great feeling when something like that happens.

2005 I queued in the snow to try to get a ticket from the box office for their gig in Portland that night. Got one in row f. Turned out it was the front row to the right of the stage with Paul mcguinnes sitting below with a setlist in his hand!

I stood about four feet from Bono in Cleveland, but was unable to get his autograph or shake his hand because of the larger folks in front of me.  I was crushed in between some large men.  Everyone was hushed and respectful.  It was quite an amazing moment.  I hope to get an autograph or shake his hand next year :0

Well, I went to both SOI shows in Phoenix (these were my first shows EVER!). The first night, we were walking around the arena, and saw a crowd gathered...went over and stood with them for a bit, and Bono and Adam came out and spent lots of time giving autographs, but we were too far back to get in on it...about 6 rows of peeps between us and the guys. BUT the next day, we went back to the same spot, and there were only a very few people...we hung out for about an hour, we were just about to give up, and Adam came out, AND I WAS RIGHT UP FRONT BY THE BARRICADE! He was SO nice, SO kind...
I had one of those silly little disposable cameras, and my guy took the picture that I use as my avatar. WHAT A THRILL!

I was at the show too.  I lived in Oregon at the time.  Our tix were front row of upper deck on the side.  Best seats of my 5 shows

You were right above me! That was one of my favourite shows. End of a trip around the US. They finished with 40 and I got the Empire Builder out of town the next day. Portland was a great city to be in. Loved it.

What a lovely story. Adam's really personable. If you get near the front he makes a lot of eye contact with the audience and gives them that upturned smile of his.

well i met the guys on the Vertigo Tour, But probably the best thing to happen at a gig was on 360, Got one of Edges picks and a setlist  8) but overall, The U2 gig experience has been made infinately better by the amazing friends ive made at gigs along the way, one of which sorted me a ticket to Dublin this year so i could say my 50th U2 gig was my first in their home town. Unbelievable fans U2 have  ;D
