Im feeling like im being held to ransom. Im so disgusted by this. So i am in two minds whether to bother attending this tour or not. It all reeks of pure GREED!
Regardless of how many tours there are in a calender year. If your subscription is active during the period that two tours are announced, then you should get access to pre sales....FULL STOP!!

I know of someone who got the email, so subscribed again. NOW...he is subbed till october 2019. Surely his last subscription would have covered him for upcoming pre sale???  #Angry

I don't disagree and it sucks for people that have to pay again after just paying to renew just for presale access, it's not right.  The whole process wasn't handled well at all.

For me personally by time this tour starts I would have had to renew my subscription anyway.  Also, last year instead of having to renew my subscription when it was up in October, it was extended for 3 months.  So in essence I received 3 extra months of membership without having to pay, so it didn't bother me to renew early.

I guess the most annoying part for me is that tickets are going on sale 6-7 months before the tour even starts, which I know U2 has done in the past, but it's hard to buy tickets that far in advance because so much can happen from now until then.
I feel my luck could change.

Is it true not only do we have to renew our subscription but we need to preorder the album to get in cue for presale? I actually cancelled my preorder from both iTunes and vinyl. I’ll just listen to it through Apple Music. This is getting ridiculous.

Been a fan since ‘83. I’ve always been stressed about getting tix to U2 tours but this fiasco has freed me from caring. I love new music from U2 but I saw them 3 times on last tour. Now I have to dish out more to be considered “eligible” for a presale. I’ll pass. I have better things to worry about.

I didn't think preordering the album made a difference, but I could be wrong.

It doesn't appear the band thought this through too well. Their management these days is downright embarrassing.

I don't see what any of the problem is?

If you used your U2.com Pre-Sale for JT then you've used your allocation for the year haven't you?

So rather than letting you miss out they are letting you re-sub early if you want E+I tickets.

If your a U2.com member and is eligible for pre-sale then you don't need to order the album.

If you're not a member of U2.com then you can pre-order the album for a secondary pre-sale.

And to buy a ticket through any of the pre-sales or general sale you have to be registered as a verified fan which should make more tickets available to actual fans. Or have I totally got this wrong?

I don't see anything wrong myself.  The timing and confluence of event has created a need for some unique handing of the issue which at first appearance and lack of research can appear to be confusing and daunting to say the least.  We could all follow an tha's lead though and just get tickets in the general or more closely to the show since he has never had any issues doing so.  I'm not like that typically as I like the comfort of knowing I have tix in hand.  However, I my have to wait this one out a bit longer and go the route of waiting closer to event time.

I haven't heard this. U2.com appears to indicate the reverse: if you get a pre-sale code and use it to reserve/purchase tickets for a concert, you get a free copy of the album (per ticket). According to the U2.com website:

Quote from: U2.com

Please Note: Every ticket purchased will include one (1) copy of U2’s new album, Songs of Experience, to be released December 1, 2017. Be on the lookout for a separate email with instructions around how you can redeem your album(s). One album per ticket. US/Canadian residents only. Not valid for Fan to Fan Resale.

It's a way to boost sales of the album - for every ticket to a concert sold, they get to count that as an album sold for charts.  And considering that a sizeable chunk of the tickets available for the tour will be snapped up in the pre-sale - that's a good number for Week 1 of album sales as people redeem their free albums.
Hold on, people! The man's talking about waste management. That affects the whole damn planet.

Exactly. Suckers like me will end up "buying" 4 copies of the album... And week 1 on the charts will be good. :-)

Maybe, but it shouldn't put you back into the 'Innocence' group! I was innocence LAST year, renewed because I had to to qualify, and they make you Innocence AGAIN. You don't get upgraded to Experience.

Bloody ridiculous, unfair and very poor on U2.coms part here. Disgusted.
What are we going to do now it's all been said.

But have you completed a full year in the Innocence group ... or will that be when your current subscription ends? ... I'm sure you'll be bumped up to Experience once you've served a year. Otherwise we'd all be doubling our subscriptions... I think it's fair that those in the experience group have already completed their service. They're the long standing subscribers.

I say this as an 'innocence' group member ... I only ever subscribe to U2.com about a month before a tour gets announced. Have done so since before Vertigo tour.

I don't think U2.com are being unfair to be honest. I'm sure the day after your original subscription 12 month subscription ends you'll be moved into the 'Experience' category.

I think that's fair to stop people buying their way into the experience group.

I didn't think that you had to buy an album to be in the presales in America.  I could be wrong...if so someone please clue me in.
