Dogfight (1991)
A River Phoenix film i'd never heard of before.  TCM is doing a Women in Film series on films directed by women and this film is interesting because it's about a group of Marines in San Francisco for their last night before shipping off to Vietnam and they're holding a 'dogfight' competition to see who can bring the ugliest woman to a party, so it features the male gaze on women and directed by a woman.
Lili Taylor plays the female protagonist and for an unknown film i think more people should hear about it.

I saw 3 versions of Churchill lately :
-The Gary Oldman biopic
-The Brian Cox biopic
-The Crown TV series

I’d say Gary Oldman was the most entertaining, Brian Cox the most ceremonial (not in a bad way) and the The Crown the most comprehensive.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

One of my favourite movies.  All kinds of good.  In the end the DNA sample they had of what they thought to be the Zodiac killer didn't match Arthur Leigh Allen's, and neither did the handwriting on the Zodiac letters.  I'll always think of Donovan's Hurdy Gurdy Man in the context of this film.

Its an enjoyable watch. I like these investigative types of movies.

I was looking at the character Inspector William Armstrong, thro the movie, thinking he has a very familiar face. I just checked out IMDB. Turns out yes, he was fmailier to me, but ONLY for playing the part of Goose in Top Gun. I could have sworn he was in far more movies that i have seen. he has one of them faces.

Did you know only the San Francisco Police Department call regular detectives Inspector?  In the UK a police Inspector is the equivalent to an American police Lieutenant.

I didnt know that.

Going back to Anthony Edwards, going thro his IMDB listing, im thinking that his appearance in ER is the reason his face is so familiar to me. Not that i watched the show, but adverts for it were on all the time, back in the day.

Tonight, i had a Halloween Double bill. I searched all thro Sky Movies and Sky Movies downloads, to try and find something scary. No classic Horrors to be found, so i ended up watching Ghostbusters I and II. best bit was, my son watched them with me too. Im delighted. Its a real big, and positive step for him :)

The VVitch.

Meh. Mediocre plot and Terrible ending. Even the gratuitous nudity was meh.

I watched E.T. last night with the wife and kid. My daughter didn’t want to watch it, she had never heard of it and wanted to watch something more recent. I told her it was Daddy’s pick tonight and she had no say. Some popcorn and chips brightened her mood and after the movie ended she said “that was pretty good Daddy”. My daughter even caught my wife crying when E.T. hugged Elliot goodbye. The kid didn’t cry though, she’s a trooper.

In Britain at the end of watching The Snowman kids often ask their fathers: "Daddy, why are you crying?"
