I've been curious to dive into the Frank Burly series.  Have you read the earlier books?  Guessing you recommend?

Just finished Aldous Huxley's The Doors of Perception (1954) which is a short read and i was curious as it was the book that inspired the name for the band The Doors (who i used to love until i realized what bad teenage poetry was). This is Huxley writing about his experience under the influence of mescalin.  It was interesting but is so far dated at this point that it was kind of laughable.

With my Buddhist group we're now reading Why We Meditate by Tsoknyi Rinpoche.  Actually getting bored with all the books we've been going into on meditation.  This is the fourth one in a row and not learning much new at this point it feels.

Nearly finished with Irvine Welsh's (Trainspotting) newest novel, The Long Knives which will be the second season of Crime.  Enjoy his books, always a good read, but now he's including his politics in his books which is disheartening.

Probably going to read these to my kids in about another year.  I read the first three as a kid but only remember liking the first one (maybe because i loved the 70's cartoon with horrible animation).  Still waiting for a film studio to make the full series.

It's a fantastic series. I'm always surprised when I return to it as, much like The Hobbit, it's a children's story that also manages to be smart and entertaining enough for adults.

On my sister’s recommendation, I just bought Sinead O’Connor’s autobiography.
