The Yellow Heart by Pablo Neruda
First collection of poetry i've read by Neruda although i have quite a few of his books in my collection and i've enjoyed it.  This is one of his last collections, written when he was dying of cancer and there's three really good selections that have stuck with me.

Amerika by Franz Kafka
Other than The Metamorphosis, which he is best known for, everything else I've read by Kafka has been a struggle.  This is his most comedic novel, and set in America, a place he never visited, and it shows.  Like this better than other books i've read by him, but still not as enjoyable as i was hoping.

I'm reading Oliver Sacks's The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat. It's a collection of essays the psychologist wrote on patients with right-brain damage (in the section I am on, at least). He describes people who had lost the ability to perceive concrete reality but retained abstract thought processes.

How to Practice the Way to a Meaningful Life by HH the Dali Lama
I've read a few books by HH before and he has a way of communicating Tibetan Buddhism very simplistically.

Last few books:
Thunderball by Ian Fleming- enjoyed it, especially after the dud it followed in the series.

Judiasm for Beginners- very insightful but was more on the history of the religion and not so much of the actual beliefs.

Tarantula by Bob Dylan- his only book of published poetry.  F***ing horrible.  160 pages of nonsense.  I can handle 10 pages of BS rambling, but this was too much.  Had to force myself to finish.  There was no hidden meaning or depth.

The Crack Up by F. Scott Fitzgerald- essays, letters and lost notebooks of Fitzgerald.  The notebook material is mostly single sentences or paragraphs he'd jotted down with the intention of including in short-stories or novels- some were interesting.  Otherwise i've only found the letters worth reading.

Mexico City Blues by Kerouac- not a big fan of Kerouac's poetry, or at least reading in.  I'm sure it would have been a fun experience to hear it performed spoken word with jazz accompaniment.

The Tibetan Way of Life, Death and Rebirth- probably my favorite book on Tibetan Buddhism including its history and practices that I've ever read.

Naked Lunch by Willaim S Burroughs
I struggled trying to finish this.  Just a mishmash of random delirious episodes supposedly written when Burroughs was trying to come off junk.  A disgusting novel to be honest.  Not the first Burroughs novel I've read, but definitely the first i disliked.
