So, I worked out to The Joshua Tree this morning...very early, still dark outside, I'm out under the stars with my ancient disc man. And, just like every single time I hear it, I choked up a bit during the Streets intro...the organ, the beautiful guitar, the bass coming in, the build up to that first cymbal crash. This song is my connection to God. I know, I know, I drink and I cuss (but I've given up lots of BAD vices!). So, I'm human, far from perfect. But...
I am so thankful for the music that U2 has given us. And, thankful for my U2 fan-family.
Anyway...where the hell was I going with this? I don't know... (remember, I never claimed to be completely sane...so if you choose to visit my thread, be prepared for some good old fashioned goofiness!)

Streets in not my favorite song, I know sacrilege, but reading you describe your experience and playing the intro in my head gives me goose bumps all by itself.  Not many things can do that without actually experienceing it in real time.

Clearly you’re a troll ..... no actual U2 fan would admit that ......out .....loud.......actually come to think of it, you’re right - not my favorite either. :-)

U2 has a few songs that tend to be a conduit to God - Streets is certainly one of them. I started to get choked up reading this. Right up to to the goofiness.

So, those of you who know me, know that I went to TJT with a very, very casual fan. I spoke with her yesterday, and she told me that she now listens to U2 every single time she gets in her car and also when she's cleaning her house. She admits that the band are now a permanent fixture in her life. And...A NEW FAN IS BORN!

A thread dedicated to one of the nicest and most thoughtful people I have ever come across on this interweb thingy.

I wonder if they would play this for me during the SOI tour if an tha asked them to?
And , by the way, thanks again, an tha, for this thread...I'm  not sure I live up to your kind words...but I try.

Hey Zero-buddy...didn't see this until this morning...hope your night was fun and your morning not painful! I'll think of your cousin when I say my "please's and thank you's" to the Big Guy in the sky.
