Bruce has postponed the rest of the 2023 shows. He is dealing with peptic ulcer disease.

Yeah. Got the news earlier today that the show I was supposed to attend in a few weeks got postponed.

Hoping he makes a full recovery and is able to resume touring in 2024.

Is that you?
"There's nothing wrong with U2. As far as I'm concerned, I've stolen from Larry Mullen's career for years. Without Larry, I wouldn't be able to stomp and sing, it'd be difficult. I mean I owe debts to the Bhundu Boys, Larry Mullen, Stewart Copeland. They're good players, and they're great songwriters" - Gary "Reni" Wren, drummer, The Stone Roses reunion press conference, 18/10/2011

"I'd just like to put on record that that's bobbins" - Ian Brown, singer, ditto

Just got back from seeing the show in MTL.

Wow. He’s still phenomenal, even at 75. Unbelievable…

More over the weekend as I collect my thoughts.

So, about the show I saw Thursday. It was really impressive.

First, I don’t want to get into all the fuss about the prices to see him live. I don’t know how much the tickets I had cost, they were a gift from my daughter to her parents.

That being said, whatever people paid, I’m confident all in the arena left the show completely happy. Not a single seat was unoccupied in the place. Crowd was between 45-65 of age in average I would say. Which means you didn’t have any phones up in the air all the time. Heck, I only took 4 pics.

At 75, it is astonishing how energetic he still is. I’ve read he trains hard on a daily basis, and it shows.

The ticket said the show was at 19:30. Bruce and the band walked on stage at 19:32 ans left at 22:37. Not a single break, he never took a breather. The pause before the encore didn’t even last a minute.

He’s backed by a band of 17 people on stage. And they’re extremely tight. Jake Clemens has a fantastic presence on stage. His uncle must be very proud looking from above.

Have to admit I’m not entirely versed in his most recent work, but even if there was a few songs I didn’t know, the show never had a dull moment. The missus only knew stuff from Born to Run up to Born in the USA, but she also greatly enjoyed the evening.

Set list is below, but for me, the highlight was the segment of Wrecking Ball/The Rising/Badlands/Thunder Road, just before the encore. And hearing Twist and Shout, with the full arena lights on, brought me straight back to 1984 when he had done the same at the old Forum.

So if you have the chance to see him before he retires, don’t hesitate.

Nice write up Mpare. Glad to see you had a great time.

You may want to check out the new Bruce documentary which is about this tour. For the first time he has a ‘theme’ for the show and has more of a consistent set list then normal. He built it around the themes of the last album which is looking at his own mortality and the loss of loved ones.

I’ll likely be at the Vancouver show, unless I’m out of town for work. Not impressed with ticket prices though.

I’ve seen Bruce numerous times, and the reunion show I saw in Tacoma remains the 2nd best concert I’ve ever seen (ZooTV arena is 1). He’s the best performer of the rock era.

One of the few times he spoke between songs at the show (IIRC just before Backstreets) he touched on that subject specifically.

He said « Grief is the price we have to pay for all the love we have in life Â».

I have never been a big Springsteen fan but I have had periods where i have delved into his stuff and there is plenty of it i like.

He was always someone i had a respect for - but that died with his fucking disgusting behaviour around ticketing/pricing.

Became a fan of Bruce with The River. Fantastic album.

As for the ticketing issue, I also was disappointed he went with the dynamic pricing gimmick. I have no clue what my daughter paid for the tix she gave us, but since the last time he was in MTL was in 2008, I guess prices were not cheap at all.

One of my buddies who wanted to go is gonna be out of town. I have another buddy I’ve been to a number of Bruce shows with. I’ll see if he’s interested. If not I’ll likely take my wife.

I was thinking about taking my wife and daughter as I’d like her to see a real great live show but it’s literally the cost of me flying us to Mexico for vacation.
