Congratulations, Sir.

Truly the greatest gift you can be lucky enough to be blessed with.

The sleepless nights will stop and the joy and love you will share with that young man will make them more than worth it!

Congratulations.
I know you are here to kill me. Shoot, coward, you are only going to kill a man

As for inducing slumber, Peace on Earth should do the trick.

Congrats to you and your missus on the arrival of the wee one THRILLHO. As far as sleep goes I recall one of my kids taking a while to settle into a routine. Truth is, stick with it, as hard as it may be at the time. I think if you stick to it for a couple of weeks, it will become routine.
As for the baby....prepare to feel feelings of sheer love and enjoyment, in the years to come. Having kids brings so much pleasure to your life

A wee tip for further along the line, is think about teaching Baby some Baby Sign Language. Me and my Ex did it with our middle son. Taught him basic signs, to let us know when he was hungry, thristy, tired, had a poopy nappy and he was such a content baby. Logic behind it is, that they say babies get unhappy and frustrated, as they cant communicate if something is bothering them. These few baby signs can make a huge difference. As i say, i speak as a parent who tried it :)

And what a beatiful family!

Now the nitty gritty....
Of course all babies aren't the same so I'll speak purely from my personal experience.
My son NEVER SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT until he was almost 6 months old. Yup. True story. People tried telling me to force him onto a schedule (ya...NO. Didn't work), ignore him while he's crying and he will eventually stop (uh, bullshit...AND I couldn't go through with it).
There were the first few months when I seriously thought to myself "I'm never going to sleep again" as he was up virtually every hour on the hour wanting to be on the boob. After a while we both adjusted and I kinda cherished those long nights because it was just the two of us hanging out.
I did find he liked movement, be it rocking, or me holding him and humming in his ear with my cheek pressed to his cheek, or putting him in the car and driving him around the block. I always had some kind of music going, and oddly enough...during the day I could get him to fall asleep when I vacuumed the house!  (He's now 10 and can still sleep through a vacuum cleaner!)
Good luck and congrats again!!!
Hey, hey, sha la la

Congratulations on your lovely son!  My first two didn't sleep much till they were much older.  My advice is nap when he does, then you can get some rest.  Don't try to accomplish much and go for the easily prepared meals.  Also, get out of the house now and then and take good care of yourself.  Congratulations on your wonderful blessing!

guys thanks for all the well wishes and congratulations. we appreciate it.

i will say he slept GREAT last night, well that is from about 1230ish and he didnt wake me up. we really just had the one REALLY bad night so far, the rest are fine with only one or two instances of getting up to take care of him. yes, i get up to help her i don't try to get her to do all the work.
