"There's nothing wrong with U2. As far as I'm concerned, I've stolen from Larry Mullen's career for years. Without Larry, I wouldn't be able to stomp and sing, it'd be difficult. I mean I owe debts to the Bhundu Boys, Larry Mullen, Stewart Copeland. They're good players, and they're great songwriters" - Gary "Reni" Wren, drummer, The Stone Roses reunion press conference, 18/10/2011

"I'd just like to put on record that that's bobbins" - Ian Brown, singer, ditto

Crazy to realise its nigh on 13 yrs since The Stone Roses announced they were reforming
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

The Stone Roses, Fools Gold Live at Heaton Park. Made of Stone DVD.

What a wonderful thing to see a band completely on form.

Anyone that slags off the admittedly eccentric COVID-denying Ian Brown needs to bear in mind that he came up with this:

Quote
Your knuckles whiten on the wheel
The last thing that your hands will feel
your final flight can't be delayed
No earth just sky it's so serene
Your pink fat lips let go a scream
You fry and melt I love the scene
Sometimes I fantasize
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Don't these times fill your eyes
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Are you all alone
Is anybody home?
I'm standing warm against the cold
Now that the flames have taken hold
At least you left your life in style
I fall as far as I can see
Ten twisted ghouls grin back at me
Bad money dies I love the scene
Sometimes I fantasize
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Don't these times
Fill your eyes
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Are you all alone
Is anybody home
Sometimes I fantasize
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Don't these times
Fill your eyes
When the streets are cold and lonely
And the cars they burn below me
Are you all alone
Are you made of stone

And youse didn't.

Great interview with Mani, released earlier today. He is such a likeable fella....who has been through tough times this past few years. I really hope he finds his way back.

I was a big Roses fan in the late 80s and early 90s but sadly as a band they will go down for me as having massively underperformed relative to their potential and talent.

And the less said about the 'comeback' the better

I was very happy about the re-union, I had long since given up on ever seeing them live as I was too young the first time around, I got the opportunity to see them in Phoenix Park and they were great, on form.

Admittedly in terms of new stuff it yielded little or nothing.
