What do you love about tomorrow ?

Something tells me this one should be more popular than the previous ones.

For many it’s the highlight of the album, myself included.

The way the tension builds up before release is quite incredible. They were quite young to write such heavy stuff.
It’s hard to believe Bono wasn’t aware he was writing about his mother but there you go.

There’s a great live version with perfect sound if you can get your hands on the Glasgow 1983 bootleg.
And yes, Edge is playing the flute.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Soloyan: Should be popular
TalkU2, 10 hours later: *crickets*

No worries though, it’s Christmas day.

You made the points I would have (build-up, young, hard to believe he didn’t know) and some I had no idea on (a live version?? Edge playing the flute??!!).

If I made oooonnneee little tweak I’d nix the Jesus Is Coming stuff at the end.

Beautiful pipes. Touching lyrics. Amazing build. An overlooked track.

Instrumentally sounds great and very Irish to me. I liked some of the lyrics

Certainly no 'difficult second album' syndrome for U2. After the acclaimed Boy. The Stone Roses spent 5 years on the poor follow up the their debut!

Tomorrow is their first slow burner? Speeding up half way through.

Tomorrow is a top 5 all time fave u2 tune. I think that says it all :)
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

I love that U2 embraced Celtic "trad-rock" on the song, something they have otherwise avoided. Even when doing Irish-themed things like In the name of the father, they have studiously avoided being "too Irish"

On Tomorrow, they let their green flag fly.
