Spoofs on U2

It's kind of strange that there haven't been more over the years considering the longevity of this band, but 'The Joshua Trio' still raises a wry chuckle. Watch out for Arthur Matthews (later co-creator of Father Ted) as the Edge type wearing the hat.

Apres Match - comedians from Dublin.  Spot on.  Not sure why Adam isn't a parody though.

One love, One blood, One life;
You got to do what you should.
One life; With each other
Sisters, Brothers
One life; But we're not the same
We get to carry each other, Carry each other

I think because there were only three people in the Apres Match sketch group IIRC.

Love can make you happy
Or drive you off the rails
And love reminds me of The Edge
Whose parents come from Wales

Love can last for a short time
Like sandcastles built upon beaches
Or love can go on for ever
Like one of Bono's speeches

Love can be as easy
As selling out two nights at the Liverpool Astoria
Or love can be as difficult
As the bass part that Adam plays on Gloria

Love reminds me of Larry
Whose drumsticks are made of wood
And in the excellent film 'Rattle and Hum'
His performance is particularly good

Love can make us happy or sad
We've got all these things within us
Or love can be a big round fluffy thing
Like Paul McGuinness

U2 are an Irish band,
They hail from Dublin city,
Even their promoter is Irish,
His name is Guy O'Seary.

Sometimes love makes us look to the future
And sometimes love reminds us of the past
Like back when Adam was a raving alco and drugs fiend,
Man, he really had a blast

"There's nothing wrong with U2. As far as I'm concerned, I've stolen from Larry Mullen's career for years. Without Larry, I wouldn't be able to stomp and sing, it'd be difficult. I mean I owe debts to the Bhundu Boys, Larry Mullen, Stewart Copeland. They're good players, and they're great songwriters" - Gary "Reni" Wren, drummer, The Stone Roses reunion press conference, 18/10/2011

"I'd just like to put on record that that's bobbins" - Ian Brown, singer, ditto

I don't think I've ever seen the full version of this before
