Classic albums doc.

Just had TJT on Sky Arts.

An old doc but still some new information for me.

Eno tried to bin the master tape for Streets. But was stopped by a junior producer. Eno said he was so frustrated at the recording process of it he thought it would be easier to start again.

Adam said the Amnesty Tour helped them go in the direction they did for TJT. Not sure why as they had already toured America a lot.

Edge is proud that WOWY went into a guitar fade out rather than a big outro. If they wanted WOWY as lead single they couldn't make it much longer. It was already nearly 5 minutes

Heard some demos of the 4 of them in the room together creating Exit & RTSS.

There were some Depeche Mode esq syths in an earlier version of Streets. Wisely dropped.

Larry says he prefers Eno/Lanois to Lillywhite as they focus more of the rhythm section.

Jon Bonnan & Led Zep were an inspiration for Bullet.

Seems that ISHFWILF was a long process. Nothing on RHMT or OTH.

Elvis Costello talks about the midnight opening of record stores & that it had never happened before. Impressive for 1987.

It's Exile on Main Street tonight.

A more decadent recording atmosphere than for the Joshua Tree.

Surprised Streets was so hard to record. Seems easy when they play it live. Edge can play the guitar riff in his sleep. Adam & Larry would have known there jobs & it wasn't the most challenging vocal for Bono.

Bono said WOWY was a weird song in 87. I did think it was a bit weird at first. Espescially as I had taped it off the radio. But it grew on me.
