The opening notes of ISHFWILF, I assume that’s Lanois.

“Goodbye, and it’s emotional, good night, I’ll be up with the sun” - yup, it’s emptional for sure.

The part in R.E.M.’s Drive where the electric guitar comes in, in my mind light flashes with each note.

I really like R&H Silver and Gold, and in the film when Edge, Bono, and Adam are all in a row on stage completely locked in to their respective guitars, it’s great. Playing music in a group can sync up alpha waves or some shit, and musicians say they sometimes feel like they can read each other’s minds. No mind reading necessary here obviously, they weren’t noodling some jazz piece, but it’s just awesome seeing a band kind of become one organism.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing" John 15:5

My favourite part in a U2 song is the part in Lemon where it just sort of keeps on going after you think it's more or less reached the end, and there's this sort of creaking underneath the surface.

How bout when the beat drops at the beginning of Mofo and Edge starts making his 747 taking off sound?

I like Adam's 'turnaround' at 3.35 in U2's modern classic, Cedars.

What are your favourite parts in a U2 song.

I always liked the words and music in the part of RHMT when Bono sings "we wait all day for night to come... and it comes like a hunter, child".

That is one of my most fave parts of a u2 tune too. Especially the way the backing music descends in notes, in the back ground, when bono sings"and it comes, like a hunter child"
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

I also agree with Grumbling Mice here, great moment in a great track.
"There's nothing wrong with U2. As far as I'm concerned, I've stolen from Larry Mullen's career for years. Without Larry, I wouldn't be able to stomp and sing, it'd be difficult. I mean I owe debts to the Bhundu Boys, Larry Mullen, Stewart Copeland. They're good players, and they're great songwriters" - Gary "Reni" Wren, drummer, The Stone Roses reunion press conference, 18/10/2011

"I'd just like to put on record that that's bobbins" - Ian Brown, singer, ditto

Shoulda been a 4 minute song.

It would have been perfect at 4 minutes.

Wish granted.

10 absolutely incredible moments to me:

  • Lemon: The part in the longer version already mentioned (a shorter version is just blasphemy). It is my favorite U2 song after all.
  • One Tree Hill: The keyboard instrumental part is simple but incredible.
  • Stuck in a Moment: The duet at the end is beautiful.
  • In a Little While: The "Slow down my beating heart" part at the end.
  • Dirty Day: The bridge ("From father to son...") is chilling.
  • Even Better Than the Real Thing: The slide solo especially when it continues into Bono's singing ("Were free to fly...").
  • The Unforgettable Fire: The Edge's playing in the chorus of the song.
  • Bullet the Blue Sky: The ending ("Into the arms of America") is one of the best ever imo.
  • The Playboy Mansion: The bridge ("Dont know if I can hold on...") that is almost gospel and very moving to me.
  • Out of Control (Live): The build up to the final verse - so epic.
