Smees Fitness Thread (Everybody Welcome)
« on: April 06, 2025, 08:17:50 AM »
I was interested in creating a thread, for peeps to chat about Fitness regemes etc. Maybe we can inspire ourselves and others, by disussing our own fitness regemes, so feel free to chime in.

I myself, have actually stuck to my home workouts, for about the last 2 and a half years or more. I was inspired by a breif discussion with an tha about his running etc.
And here i am, a few years later, sticking to it, doing about 5-6 days per week. I think i maybe missed 3 days workouts, in all that time. My motivation seems to be massive now. Im addicted to working out.

I invested in resistance bands a month or so back. JEEZ.....am i heavily into using these puppies! The feelgood factor when using them is off the scale.
Im doing about 350 arm curls per day, with the 40lbs bands. And 200 tricep things per days, with 80lbs bands.
(im working on my arms, as you might have guessed. And im getting real impressive results too)

Im also doing 3 days per week, doing 200 full body weight squats and the same doing 200 per day full ab crunches.

This is my NEW and current regieme. As the weeks and months pass, i shall be tweaking my workouts, aiming to do more exercises, with the resistance bands. I actually look forward to my workouts. I have NEVER stuck to any such regeme, for so long, in my lifetime. Im LOVING it!!!

I had been doing 3 days of 300 full press ups, 900 per week, but have decided to mix things up and use the hugely fun resistance bands more.

I saw an atricle the other day. Apparently, a guy my age, should be able to do 12 full press ups, to display good levels of fitness. Well...i was doing 4 sets of 75, 3 days per week. Quite impressive i reckon.

Ps, i aint no adonis....i have a dad bod.....a strong dad bod....but a dad bod nonetheless

I used to walk in the everglades, there's a lovely trail about 2km from my home, and you see lots of gators. They really don't care for humans, they leave you alone unless you're stupid enough to jump in the water. Watersnakes are more of an issue. A lot of people get bitten by walking at dusk and not seeing the snakes.

I've always been a runner and i'm blessed that get to run on the coastal cliffs of Cornwall surrounded by the skeletal remains of old tin mines.  Best running experience ever that i've had (the trails of Couer d'Alene, Idaho is the second) and the steep kills are killers on the legs in a good way.
This is now unfortuantely my third straight year where i'll most likely be under 1,000 miles for the year.  Young kids, and one who is autistic, make it difficult to find the time anymore.  I had three good years where my annual mileage was 1,800, 2,022 and 2,000.  Tough to maintain that long-term.  The beers and wine catch-up quickly on the body once the mileage drops.

I still gets pangs of envy when I see folks out running.  I can't do it anymore.  Arthritis in my big toe joints.  Cornwall is a great spot for running, I'd imagine.

I'm surprised my joints haven't taken more of a beating, but i rarely run on cement.  90% of my runs are on treadmills and otherwise its trails.  My age is definitely catching up though.  Rare that i get the fast runs in anymore and my starting pace is slower than it was from just a couple years ago.

Ran alot when i was younger and in the military.  These days i walk a lot,  just got back from 2 miles in fact.  Also was off work today so went to the local Zoo earlier and walked at least 3 miles there.  Try to walk every day weather permitting.

Also worked out religiously (at home) with free weights 2-3 times per day for the past 20 years.  Last year my shoulder pain kept me from working out for 3 months while i did physical therapy.  However i did the PT and eased back into working out,  only to find out i needed eye surgery in Jul/Aug,  so there was another 2-3 months of no working out.  I am back in a routine now however i use the free weights once a week and the second time i use body blade and resistance bands from my PT recovery which is a different feeling but also quite rewarding.

Im doing some form of exercise, 6 days a week. Today is an easier day. Did 10 miles on the bike and i have 300 Arm curls (with 50lb resistance bands) to do and 150 tricep things to do (with 80lbs resistance bands).
tomorrow, s shall do the resistance bands workout (as per today) PLUS 200 body weight squats and 200 full ab crunches.
That is my wee home workouts at the mo. As time passes, i will be adding additional band exercises
