Scarlet was chosen for the setlist on U2's record breaking 360 tour.  Say no more.

I don’t see the need to choose. I like them both although they are very different.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Scarlett. Fire IMO is one of their worst songs.

Scarlet is the clearest example of the damage done to U2 that year when Bono's lyrics note book was stolen in Oregon on the Boy Tour.

…Or the talent of the band when they’re taken out of their comfort zone.

Prefer Scarlet. I have no idea why this name is chosen for the song when the only word is Rejoice.
The use of the piano adds nicely to the atmosphere of the song.

They called another song Rejoice.

And probably Scarlet adds more context to the meaning of this one word song.

I always found it a weird combo, though - scarlet and rejoice. Christians rejoice in being saved, okay, but explicitly tying joy to the crucifixion is creepy af.

Clearly, Bono was trying to put things in focus at this point and losing his lyrics made him repeat a few ideas. At least that’s my guess.

I bet the lyrics he lost weren’t any better than what they released.

Did he say anything about them when they were found?

He tightened up his lyric game for War, though.

Praise for WAR is always a good way to earn points.

Kinda like why they chose the cover art they did for their album No Line on the Horizon when the same photographer also took a pic with no line on the horizon.

Listen as Hope and Peace try to rhyme,
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.

There was an agreement between the band and the photographer for the use of the photograph, no?

(Or I’m entirely missing your point. Which can happen on Friday nights after a few glasses…)
