I certainly agree, but I might think of a song that had potential beyond what they were currently capable of. Or at least where I thought the singing could be better.

You didn’t like Lemon at first, eh? What changed, and how long did it take?

Honestly the entire Zoo era took a minute to click for me, I was just so used to earnest, heart-on-their-sleeves U2. And part of what made Lemon hard for me to like was (1) the seemingly silly lyrics, and (2) the falsetto (which I wouldn't have minded if it didn't last the entire song).

But after moving to Europe and remaining there for the rest of the decade, it all just clicked beautifully.

1987/88

I think it would have been a nice big late 80’s bombastic U2 ballad; WOWY, AIWIY, etc..

It never really worked in Pop, but there’s a good song there
