U2 releasing another JT in 89. The pandemonium.

Logistically this was possible.

TJT tour finished in December 87. They could have taken 6 months off. Then gone back into the studio with Eno & Lanois in mid 88.

The album could be released mid 89 with some Love Town esq end of decade concerts.

There would not need to be an 88 live album release in between. There was enough live footage of U2 floating about.

I believe U2 had enough in the tank in 88/89 to do this.

Imagine the pandemonium if this had happened.

Word would quickly circulate in the music business that U2 have done it again. The top 10 albums of all time lists would have to be rearranged for the second time in 2 years.

The fans would lap it up & another 20 million seller would be guaranteed.

The Beatles wouldn't be wobbling. They would be flat on there backs out for the count.

Maybe U2 were planning to do this.

Edge did say R&H was planned as a mini 88 project which blew up out of all proportion.

Doing this would have pushed AB back to a 92 release.

An early 90's live album/video could be released.

This would be appropriate as the end of decade Love Town esq tour would have been short.

Whether it was Paul, Ringo or one of there advisors who suggested a pre JT release meeting with Bono & Edge, one thing is for sure - it was a good idea.

There would be no coming back from an 87 U2 WS residency or an 89 JT.

Or both!

It would have been bigger than Despacito 2

What if Achtung Baby was their first album, and then their second album was writing Appetite For Destruction before GnR came up with it?

Maybe U2 were seduced by the chance of
a cinema release. So focused on R&H & let it expand.

What if Boy George replaced Bono in 1987?

Would the lead single be Do You Really Want to Hurt Me Where the Streets Have No Name (DYRWTHMWTSHNN)?

I can't see Boy George singing Bullet the Blue Sky.

You've got to remember back in the early 1980s the public were genuinely confused about whether Boy George was a boy or a girl.  I was never confused.

Boy George was in the A Team.  How cool is that?

Is there an AI version of David Lee Roth singing Where The Streets Have No Name?
