Blur are currently on TV playing WS.

Now it is more a case of who hasn't played there.

Could be wrong on these artists -

Arctics

The Police

The Smiths

The Jam

Prince

Macca

Spandau Ballet

Tina Turner

Culture Club

Duran Duran

Radiohead.

The Verve.

Status Quo.

Roxy Music.

Van Halen.

Supertramp.

Some of these artists were not big enough first time around. But the demand would surely be there when they reformed for a tour.

Others would need to reform to play there.

Playing WS has not got the gravitas it had decades earlier, but it is still a pinnacle for any artist.

It is also a great outdoor stadium.

I doubt any bands refused to play there due to the sound.

Thought the sound was good when I saw U2 in 87. Was in front of the stage then.

The sound when I saw Muse was not as good. Was up in the high seats then.

Stadia are abysmal places to watch bands/artists.

We all of course know why they play them.

Simple Minds only played there once, in 89.

They are still around & touring. Maybe time for a greatest hits second date.

DD were not big enough in the 80's. But they have been around most of the the following decades. Thought they could have sold out a greatest hits show.

The Beach Boys played there in 75. However Elton was the headline act.

The Bee Gees played a show in 98.

Still got a stick up your arse about Duran Duran, I see. Never mind that they played to 65,000 people at Hyde park recently. Indeed, in the years 84-86 they were the biggest band in the world.

Watching the Blur show, to me WS still has that special something. Both the new & old WS.

Hugeness with some intimacy.

Prince played his one and only concert at Wembley Stadium in 1993.  I was there and it is a crap music venue.  The next day I had to get the train back to Liverpool for an operation on a deviated nasal septum at Walton hospital.

The future is bright at Everton FC  8)

An tha has already mentioned Prince.

It is certainly the best music stadium in England. Probably the world.

Live Aid confirmed that in 85.

Simple Minds played Ibrox in the 80's. Jim Kerr refused to allow the BBC to film it saying the BBC sound is not good enough.

The bit they did show Ibrox looked like a good modern stadium for concerts. Holding 60,000.

Croke Park looked a bit old fashioned in the 80's. Don't know what it's like now.
