Bronski Beat got to number 3 in the UK. Only 48 in the US. This song is sampled in a lot of Tik Tok videos.

Similar to Baker Street & Hotel California, was aware of Lonely Boy before getting into music. It's not as good but was a hit for Andrew Gold in the UK & US.

Admittedly I only heard of Bronski Beat a few years ago and I've never heard of the other artist or song until just listening.  Don't care for either song but voted for STB as its the era and sound i like more.  Some stuff from the 70s i just can't get into and don't want to try.
The video for STB seems pretty progressive for the early 80's. I was too young to recall how Americans even took to George Michael in his heyday, but the British seem to have been more open to openly gay themes and artists in that time.

To most Americans a young George Michael probably seemed like just a nice boy.  He was big in America during the Faith era.

I've seen old clips of girl Wham fans in the UK making comments to rumors about George Michael but he didn't officially come out until his arrest in a Malibu public toilet in the late 90s. my sister loved George Michael after the Faith video was released and she didn't have a clue about even the rumors.

Anyone who saw the club tropicana video would have known which team old Georgios batted for.

FWIW, I firmly believe GM is underrated. Listen Without Prejudice Vol 1 is one of my favourite albums from the early 90s.

As for the poll, Bronski Beat and it’s not even close. Fantastic song.

GM seems to have been huge in the UK and underrated in the US.  Never hear any of my US friends mention him but when talking about music in the UK, he's constantly mentioned.  Not really my taste of music but i do tend to listen to Last Christmas a lot during the holidays.
GM's cameo in Extras was classic.

I’ve read there’s some establishments in the UK that forbid Last Christmas ever being played.  ;D

Yeah, its one of many christmas songs that gets way too much airplay.  I prefer the English holiday songs much more than what gets played in the US.  Last Christmas was/is popular in the US too.
