'New' unreleased track - Country Mile

To me it seems like the vocals were rerecorded recently. Sounds like Edge with a lengthy vocal section in second half. I think this is easily their best 'new' release since 2017, not that we're spoiled for choice.

Yeah. "Picture Of You" (aka Xanax And Wine) has also been released, and it's much better in comparison. Probably why they originally released it back 2009 instead of holding it until now. Although it sounds like they rearranged some of the sections, like skipping the 'save me' section after the first chorus.

I’d say it’s a decent song. I really love the quiet part where Edge just sings « I ». I wish they’d given this sentiment more space and taken the song elsewhere from that point on.

But yeah, as most songs from this era it lacks the U2 DNA je ne sais quoi.

Haven’t listened yet - is it related to the 20th anniversary HTDAAB release?

If so I’d say it won’t give us much about the so-called new sound

Wow, that is completely underwhelming. Another song where the band sounds neutered.

I kind of like it 

It’s them dicking around in the studio.  Nice of them to release it.   

Would be great to hear all the stuff like this from entire career.

It reminds me of when Bono said that getting more experienced made it harder to know when they were on to something, as opposed to their earlier days when it was more immediately evident if something was special, because anything that wasn’t was terrible.

It’s a U2 song in the way that a statue is a person. Missing that spark of life.

Also suffers from the Bomb era (and beyond) idea that a loud bashed-out song was somehow more rock and roll and better.

There might be the seed of something there, but I can’t help thinking that they’ve got to have 500 unreleased song drafts that are better than this.

Sounds very bomb era but like said with a recent vocal. Think if you like the bomb era then it may be okay for you.
