Two biggies from the 70's. Released only a year apart.

George Harrison on Saxophone for BS.

The guitar solo on BS is shorter than HC. But it still enhances the song.

This one is very close - both iconic songs of their era and i think Hotel California is still wildly popular while Baker Street perhaps is a bit more obscure.

Once met Don Henley at a u2 concert.  He seemed an angry little man with a chip on his shoulder (at least initially).  I get it though,  he probably is constantly aware of his surroundings and likely a bit paranoid given the way the world has gone - even if this was 20 years ago.

Baker Street is pure cheese.  And the singer looks exactly the way i pictured him.
Never liked the Eagles much but i don't change the radio station when their songs come on.
Apparently i've interacted with one of the members of the Eagles who is a neighbor to my parents in Palm Springs, but i couldn't tell you which one.

Was aware of both songs when about 10 years old.

That's what classics do. Drift into your conciousness although you are not really into music.

The first two chart songs I remember hearing were Video Killed the Radio Star and Cliff's We Don't Talk Anymore.

DH supposedly lives in Texas but its not out of the question for him to have multiple homes.  Glenn Frey and Randy Meisner have both passed away somewhat recently.

This was a few years ago.  Someone after the fact told me who it was i'd been talking to.  It wasn't DH i know.

I never realized that Gerry Rafferty was also the lead singer of Stealers Wheel and sang Stuck in the Middle with You.
