Taking in everything they ever done, who would you say is the greatest Band ever?
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

Yeah I'd have to agree. U2 is my favorite but LZ was the best in terms of the talent and influence/popularity that both the band as a whole and each individual member had. There have been more 'talented' bands but they were less influential or popular. The Beatles remain more influential and maybe more popular, but every member of Zeppelin is better at their instrument than any member of The Beatles. Zeppelin's output was also pretty consistently great, even In Through The Out Door and Coda have tracks I really love. Only Coda lacks any tracks generally considered a 'classic'.

Personally its U2 despite the last three records with Oasis a close second.
Historically its tough not to say The Beatles.
Best American band would be The Beach Boys despite Liam Gallagher calling them a barbershop quartet.

U2 or The Beatles.

U2 were a better live band and have lasted longer.

The Beatles were ground breaking & released a lot in a short period.

Both bands experimental & huge.

  • And you can swallow, or you can spit....
Radiohead and it isn't especially close.

It could have been Joy Division had Ian Curtis not taken his own life at just 23 years of age and barely two albums in.

Started off well - Movement and then Power Corruption and Lies were boss - lost me in the 90's/00's though when they went more MOR pop rock.

That was a good one. Oddly, PC&L is very much tied to TUF in my head/memories.

Big fan of both bands myself. I think they're severely underrated.  Slowly getting their albums on vinyl.
Was a bit bummed after receiving Total and discovering most of the tracks had been re-recorded.
