Kashmir vs Bohemian Rhapsody

Heavyweight battle between legendary 70’s bands. Both songs are rock radio classics.

Kashmir

One of Led Zeppelin’s epics, and a song all 4 members point to as being among their finest. Like most Zeppelin songs it was never released as a single. The music, written by Jimmy Page and John Bonham, uses different tunings and meters typically not found in rock music.

Robert Plant wrote the lyrics and melodies oddly while driving through Morocco and had never been to Kashmir.

My shangri la beneath the summer moon
I will return again
As the dust that floats high in June
We're moving through Kashmir

Bohemian Rhapsody

Queens opus that spent weeks topping the UK charts. Freddie Mercury wrote 3  songs and combined them to create the song. One a ballad, another operatic, and another that was hard rock.

The song returned to the spotlight in the early 90’s being used in Wayne’s World and after Mercury died.

Geez, you’re acting like I put up the last Radiohead album.

But in all seriousness, if you can’t appreciate the riff in Kashmir than I dont know what to say.

Sorry, pal - But jokes aside that is exactly the thing isn't it - different strokes and all that - you find it unfathomable I don't like LZ, or that riff  I find it unfathomable you don't like Radiohead.....Different strokes!

I find Queen utter garbage - borderline a comedy act. I genuinely can't stand them, or that song. Nails on a chalkboard stuff for me.

And as for LZ i tried - i genuinely did but they just grated on me. I just don't like classic rock or whatever it is called. I can't think of an act of that ilk that I listen to or really ever have.

If I looked down my list of most listened to artists there isn't one of them from that genre that would get a place in the top 100.

The Stones and Springsteen would probably be about the closest to that who would occupy a place.

Bohemian Rhapsody is a gimmicky song.

Kashmire is decent, but overrated in my book. Gets the vote here

I’m not a big Queen fan, too much of their stuff crosses over into show tune territory. Bohemian Rhapsody, while being pretty inventive, is not my cup of tea.

There are a few Radiohead songs I enjoy… Let Down is a great song and I like Fake Plastic Trees, but I think they are highly overrated, especially by the Brits.

Bohemian Rhapsody is about the only Queen song I can stomach, and even then only every once in a while. Zep wins easily. Kashmir may be the most repetitive song that never gets old.

Even for people who don’t much care for Queen, the likes of Killer Queen and Radio Gaga are great songs, no? I wouldn’t care to count the number of times I’ve watched the Live Album aid performance of the latter, for example.

BR by a mile.

Kashmir is to me awful and the worst of what Zeppelin represents.  I do like some LZ songs for example Going to California is epic, When the Levy Breaks is alright... there are probably some others.

When I hear Kashmir all I can think of is Fast Times at Ridgemont High.  Such a Velveeta song, drippy gooey cheesy, just terrible.

Too many IPAs. Maybe the worst take of the week. Kashmir is pretty far from cheesy. It’s one of the most unique rock songs ever. Odd time patterns, middle eastern influence, it’s about the farthest thing away from mainstream cheesy rock.
