John Fogerty wrote this anthem about how it’s the poor and middle class that get sent to war while the sons of the rich and elite stay home. The classic peaked at number 3 on the US charts in 1969.

The Bosses 1984 epic and one of the most misunderstood songs ever about the alienation of a Vietnam War vet who comes home to find that he has no place in society. Peaked at number 9 on the US charts.

Both great tracks, would go for Fortunate Son on this.

Paint It, Black is the ultimate anti-Vietnam song for me as it is the theme song to the great 1980s US TV show, Tour of Duty, I used to watch.

I do however find it amusing that the hard of thinking have down the years for so long totally misunderstood the point of the Springsteen song - so i'll give that song my vote for that.

The tune is rotten and the sonics just grate.

Never heard that and couldn't stomach more than a minute of it....wow.

Never liked Springsteen.

The album, Born in the USA is excellent although I don’t have much time for the song itself. In the same way I don’t have much time for pride, from TUF
