Achtung! Hansa Studios Documentary
« on: December 21, 2017, 02:03:23 AM »
A new documentary exploring Berlin’s famous Hansa Ton Studios, which has hot-housed legendary albums from David Bowie, Iggy Pop, U2 and Killing Joke is to be broadcast next month. Hansa Studios: By The Wall 1976-90...

The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

I know Depeche Mode worked therein the 80’s, though they didn’t have the profile of Bowie or U2.

I've stood outside Hansa Studios wishing I could go in! Apparently the only way you can go inside (unless you work there, of course ) is if you book in advance to go on one of the U2, Bowie or Depeche Mode guided walking tours around their old haunts, that an independent Berlin company does. A visit inside the studios is included with the walking tour but if I remember it's pretty expensive. I'm sure it's well worth doing though, if you can afford it. They only do the tours at certain times of the year, if I remember correctly.

We just walked in back in 2005 on the virtigo tour, a guy was polishing the ballroom floor where they made one & he showed us round, He took us upto the studio where a band were recording a session... really cool studio & The Ballroom below is amazing I'd recommend it to anyone
