(Posting this in General U2, so we get more views)

We want to try something a little different; a forum Movie Club where we would discuss a specific film for a few weeks, then move to another.

Would you be interested?

My initial suggestion is to go through Quentin Tarantino’s filmography, in chronological order. I believe this could bring interesting discussions and offer something different for us all to engage.

Most movies these days are available to rent online, for less than a fancy coffee at Starbucks, so I think it’s feasible.

Open to any suggestions you may have.

I’d be interested, but I’d say keep it open. There are weeks when I travel for work or may not have time to watch a flick.

I think one thing to do is for each member who watches the film of the week to rate it out of 10. Add up the ratings for an average and then we’ll see how they rank against each other.

I’m in. Not sure I can keep up with every film but I like the idea.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Well, I suppose it’s more interesting than having the same boring conversations about U2 all the time.

My initial thought was to start up a thread for a movie for a minimum of 2 weeks, before adding a new one. And yes, a rating out of 10 is a great idea.

I have an idea. I could start a poll to find out which genres are popular with the group. For example, if you guys hate violent horror movies, there’s not much point me picking one of those. Similarly, erotic thrillers.

I'm a film buff, so I think this could be really cool.

Yes, after we go through Quentin’s filmography, we could go into another direction, a genre instead of a specific director.

I’m not a big Tarantino fan beyond Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, at a push. I find his films haven’t aged particularly well.

That said, I’m an easy going, open minded type of fella so will participate in a pro-active, adult way, as you might expect.

Kill Bill 1 & 2.  F-ing brilliant.

I disagree.

Those films are a bit like u2 albums after POP. Take the best songs from each, and you’ve got a decent album. Similarly, take the best scenes from both films and you have something approaching Reservoir Dogs excellence.

Gotta say, I think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is my favourite.

OK boys and girls, there will be plenty of time to discuss the merits of a particular movie in the Movie Club.

I will set it up during the week.

Full disclosure: recently, I told myself I should revisit Tarantino’s work in sequence.  Some I haven’t seen since their theatrical release. Then I realized I could make a project out of it in the forum.  :D
