I went with NYD for one reason : they butchered the bass sound. It doesn’t ruin the song but there’s quite a bit missing for me.

A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart

I considered Party Girl but wound up, to my surprise, picking NYD.

I’ve heard other live versions of NYD that sound much stronger. And Party Girl just has a certain je ne sais quoi. It’s like chewing bubble gum. You know what it is but you still want some.

Like Pride, NYD is one of those rare examples in U2's early music where live performances never really reach the heights of the studio versions, imo.
Listen as Hope and Peace try to rhyme,
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.
