Sphere show broadcast

A bit sad that there isnít a post about itÖ

I was able to listen to the full show and hereís my thoughts :

It wasnít unpleasant but it wasnít great, either.

Bono has a few moments but heís still in late career Sinatra mode, changing the rythm of the melody and not holding notes. Itís frustrating more than once.

Edge sounds rather good but on auto pilot. I didnít really pay attention to Adam, to be honest.

Then thereís Bram. I think I understand now why they chose him. They chose a drummer that would not step on Larryís toes. Heís close enough that the songs will work but he doesnít have Larryís flow.
If they had hired Philip Selway from Radiohead (who volunteered for the gig) he would probably have offered a slightly different take and fans or Larry could have taken offense.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

Listening now. It's hard to get too excited about this kind of thing. If U2 played deeps cuts in an intimate venue, that might do the trick. But I feel the window has closed on all this.
Listen as Hope and Peace try to rhyme,
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.

He just dedicated AIWIY to Jill Biden.

Assuming that's a joke.  Fearing it isn't.

Nope, not a joke. I mean it IS a joke, but it seriously happened.

I'd rather watch this (assuming Larry doesn't dedicate his shitless boredom to Jill Biden).

I really do wonder what people see (or hear) in this band anymore.  They are just about beyond redemption at this point for me.

Habit.
Curiosity.
Attachement.

Not excitement, obviously, but I havenít given up on them. SOE had some gems on it. At this point thatís all I ask for. Moments of brilliance.

When was this broadcast, and which platform was it available on?

I thought the shows ended a few weeks ago.

Oh, ok. Iíve watched a few videos on YouTube. Some decent performances of certain songs, but overall I got the impression everything was too sanitised, too corporate, too clean-cut and soulless, nothing really to get excited about. A million miles away from what I want u2 to be like.

It just seemed to be an opportunity for bono to shout out to his celebrity mates every night. I donít feel like Iíve missed out on anything special.
