Wasn't Britpop the greatest thing ever?

It was just the best, with all these great bands like Blur, Oasis, Pulp, and so on. Menswear and Elastica.

Wow. What a time to have been alive.

Really?

Oh well, ok. It wasn't quite as good as the Beatles or the Kinks but it was classic. Classic tunes.

Think about it - Oasis's "Roll with Yer Road", Blur's "What's the Story Tuesday Morning", Pulp's "Common Working Man from Sheffield" - all great tunes. The Bach, Strauss and Wagner of their time.

Let's not lump the genius of Pulp in with music for the hard of thinking like Oasis..

They were both vastly over-rated by the Brit music press, I think is the point of the cartoon. But chacun a son goute, as they say.

Brit pop had its fair share of awful bands. Pulp were great but seeing oasis glad handing Blair made me feel ill. Plus oasis made shite music. So did blur. And elastica. The Verve were ok as were suede. MSP gave us The Holy Bible, too, which is a fantastic LP. A mixed bag for the genre, then.

Agree, they weren't really part of that whole clique. They released their first single in 1991 and their influences included heavy metal, not so much the 1960s stuff that influenced Britpop.

They’re all shit.

I have a near pathological hatred of the band
