Not live, piano version as played live during JTT, but studio recording.
And I love What's going on, even when covered by U2, nice!!!  :-*

Bono was already part of the What's Going On cover recorded by multiple artists after 9-11.  I can only suspect that this is a political comment.  This is a song i would have guessed that they would cover so for me it isn't a very 'original' idea for a cover.

I liked it...still Marvin's is of course the best version. A really good Marvin Gaye cover of inner city blues is on Living Colour's new album Shade.
I love Rock N' Roll...so I booked a room at the heartbreak hotel and there, the music plays on and on.

Since you mention this terrific song, have you ever heard Mayfield Four's cover of Inner City? Really dig it myself.

Ahh, you mean one with a bunch of different artists + Bono? That one was my first exposure to the song.

Well, great covers by U2 are the exception... My real problem is, it's a way too well known, and well recorded song for them to just poke at, and not make it their own, not put a U2 twist on it, on the other hand, taken as a political statement, it's way too tame.
He wrote like wet paper mache, but then he went the lemmingway...
