The new single should be out everywhere by now. Please rate the song.

Gave it a 5. There's nothing wrong with it, but it's not why I love U2 either.
Listen as Hope and Peace try to rhyme,
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.

7, sounds good. But yeah next time why don’t they give a nod to their old selves instead of nodding to everyone else.

Can imagine it on Bomb. As an album track.

Not sure why it's been released. Not promoting a film or album. The shows are already booked.

U2 either believe it's so brilliant it has to be released. Or it's just a left over track & no harm in releasing it as it's not promoting anything.

It's extremely clear it was written for the Sphere shows and is intended to promote them.  New music promoting a tour/live shows is an extremely common thing, and it's also not at all weird for the tour to be booked before the new music comes out.  Tickets are still on sale.

New stand alone songs promote new albums. A tour quickly follows a new album.

This seems a bit pointless. Unless it's brilliant. Which it isn't. But it will be played at the shows.

Have the shows not sold out?

6 Not bad, not amazing. One listen in and I find it a bit lightwright, a bit catchy, a hint of new wave about it, could be a grower, we'll see. More of a U2 sound than recent efforts of which I'm thankful.

I think they've released it to celebrate the start of their shows in Vegas. That's a reason. Like they somewhat did with the remake of Red Hill Mining Town. I like this better.

Not my song, but less cringe than I expected. I'm not so fond of the guitar. The solo is no solo. Rushed and like a teenager writing it's first solo.

It's first video clip with the band I enjoyed that came out since I listen to them (just a year before Invisible). I love the Every Breaking Wave mini-film though

It's a 7 for me too. Could have been an 8 if it wasn't a Blondie cover as a chorus.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

When I saw the song title I expected it to be shit and I was right. Its up there with Boots. Its horrendous and not what I like about U2 at all. But it was all very predictable. How can they go from Live at Red Rocks and Joshua Tree and Achtung Baby to this utter crap. I wish they would stop making music so I dont have to get my hopes up and get disappointed every time they bring out a new song/album.

And I am utterly flabbergasted the majority scores this a 7/8 out of 10. Like seriously no, its not.

In fairness to u2 this is the best single they’ve released in years, although it’s arguable whether that’s any kind of achievement. I really like the vocal treatments and the middle eight is quite interesting.

Anyhow, the live version was horribly clumsy, but this one kinda works. I’ve given it a 6.
