The single released a month beforehand. Let the public digest it.

Included WOWY as it was released after TJT.

Got the big hitters but Mothers would have got me curious.

Trip I would have felt was upbeat & a nice change from the heavy Pride & NYD.

OTH is a hidden classic & the single version could have cut the end bit.

RTSS & Exit are solid enough. But Exit a bit quiet for the radio.

Would have only been disappointed if IGC was lead single. Decent enough but wouldn't have maximised queues.

Larry was still listening to The Relex in 1987.

The right single at the right time & the 10,000 fans in Piccadilly for the Premiere of 'Help' would have looked like a pic nic.

Pretend that U2 had not realised Bono could not sing RHMT every night.

Streets as lead single would include the full outro.

You should listen to the Who album Quadrophenia
Jealousy, it's not what it's cracked up to be
Envy, gets you where you need to be

With or Without You easily.  U2 chose the right singles for this album.

Not before me.  Although I’m sure you’ll claim to have done exactly that.

It’s weird that you would contemplate picking a « better » single when, in reality, With or Without You is, without any doubt, U2’s biggest hit and defining moment as a breakthrough.

If there is one thing they did right in their career, it’s this.

Joshua Tree conquered the world pretty much flawlessly. 1987 was a home run.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...

WOWY may have been released after TJT to reduce midnight queues on the 9/3/87.

It's one thing having midnight queues. Another thing stopping traffic in city centres.
