…Bono without glasses. I think he looks great.

He does. Wearing the shades for years has undoubtedly damaged his eyes. He needs to lose them. Lose the hair dye, shave the head and ditch the heels. He would be a badass, cool, elder rockstar if he did. His image adviser needs sacking. 

Glaucoma damaged his eyes, not glasses.

My grandfather had glaucoma for many years and not once did I see him in a pair of Bono shades for protection. Just sayin.

Not sure of your point.

This conundrum clearly falls thus:

1) Bono has Glaucoma and wears sunglasses to protect himself from natural and artificial light during, for example, concerts

2) Bono is using Glaucoma as an excuse to wear sunglasses. Please see 2a), 2b) and 2c)

2a) Bono thinks it makes him look cool
2b) Bono is insecure hence the sunglasses
2c) A bit of both 2a) and 2b)

3) Bono has a different, undisclosed condition, for wearing sunglasses

I know he claims to have some sort of light-sensitivity problem which necessitates the shades, but I always assumed he was either lying or exaggerating.

PS - Edge, this is your cue to lose the beanie.

I gotta wonder if there is some big payout for people with eye diseases that I should be looking into, given there is so much suspicion around it.

Just imagine the day when he stops wearing the elevator boots that make him 6 inches taller.

Does he have an excuse for those?  Or just Napoleon syndrome?

Oh, I've never heard that claim, only that he has a condition that renders him sensitive to light. But is suspicion about Bono's claims really that unwarranted? I mean, his fake hair is a fake color and he is admittedly incredibly vain. He also wears lifts to make himself taller. Just sayin.'

Yeah, because glaucoma is so cool. Anyone would want to claim having it.

Honestly, fuck the lot of youse. Maybe one day you’ll get lucky too.

All we’re saying laoghaire is that maybe glaucoma is the excuse he has used in covering up the bags/wrinkles behind the the shades since the early 90’s. It’s just a suspicion which a few of us here think is possible. That’s all.

He does look better without the glasses but if he needs them then fine.

I do wish he would find a better suited pair than the Lennon frames.  Also he should quit dyeing his hair and stop wearing all black all the time. 

He might be suited to a nice gray dye. His natural gray might not be that foxy. But he can afford some silvery highlights and whatever. Maybe Adam’s hair is dyed too, but it looks nice.

Fun fact, I can’t see the picture enough to judge how Bono looks.
