Zane Lowe interview in the desert
« on: March 16, 2023, 05:07:41 PM »
Oh yeah! This is what I'm doing tonight.

I know Zane always got a mixed reception but he always gets the best out of the lads IMO, no small talk, he goes deep into the music.

On this new album eve...

Staring down from his cave with a sour, Grinchy frown
At the warm lighted windows below in their town,

For he knew every Who down in Whoville beneath
Was busy now hanging a hollywho wreath

Bono and The Edge wouldn't want me interviewing them, that's for sure.  I'd ask some very searching questions.

I'd seriously recommend watching this, however critical of their current position you are. They are very searching of themselves.

I have started watching the interview. I hope there is a question about the Larry situation, but probably Bono has asked that he didn't want to talk about that.
I may start to wear all black clothes sometimes as well.

That was a good video.  It starts out a bit bumpy and then really gets going.  I enjoyed the bits about The Fly towards the end and also the genius discussion,  at one point; "God makes all men genius,  but most men do not like God's work"

Yes it was good. Started to get interesting when they moved into the RV. The discussions were good, IMHO.

Good interview and I liked that he challenged them a little bit.

I was more interested in what Edge had to say as Bono still talks in clichés.

It’s true that Edge was more interesting. He seems in a good place, creatively speaking. The future is bright for U2.  ;)

The problem with Bono in this interview it seems he has lost the confidence and swagger he had back in the 90s.  At first i think,  well he's just matured with age - but he's way overanalyzing everything.  There really was something quite refreshing about his cockiness in the 90s,  he knew well their status and they did as they pleased without making any apologies for it.  Now it's as if every move is calculated and they are walking a sort of tightrope.  Maybe it's always like that with them and we never realized it back then.  Often it's said that (over)confidence is a cover for once's insecurities. But when they go from being the hottest band of the 80s into the coolest band of the 90s,  you wonder how one is expected to walk around with their feet on the ground like everyone else.

Is it still an idea or have we finally moved into reality?
