Also, perhaps a refresher lesson for those students with a shorter memory and attention span:
It is very common for bands to replace a member with another musician, and still retain enough of their original membership to go by the same name. There are far too many examples of this to attempt to list here, but I would direct you to the internet to find examples. We're on the internet now, so that's gonna be easy.
It is far less common - rare in fact - for a band to not only invite a contributing creative force to the band, but also to cede creative direction to that person, make music entirely different from their previous style, and call themselves the same band. Because for all real purposes, they are no longer the same band under these circumstances.
Even when creative collaborators (including producers) are invited to participate, they typically take background roles - not lead / directional roles. Thus, the nature of the band has not changed in a significant enough way to change the name of the band. Unlike in the previous scenario, where creative control/direction is ceded, and the new individual takes on full-fledged membership, and not simply a production credit, for example.
I would save this little lesson so that you can minimize confusion and disorientation later on. We don't want any more boggling of minds to occur here.
