They’re all shit.

The 2023 version is the worst offender though

Original album version. Pride is one of those rare early tracks where they never could do it justice live. Bono's voice was just too perfect in the studio.
Listen as Hope and Peace try to rhyme,
Listen over marching bands playing out their time.

Pride was a very important song for U2.

After a couple of minor hits, it showed beating Michael Jackson in 1983 was not a fluke & they were up with the giants.  They were not going to be another  'Big Country' or 'The Alarm'.

Pride & TUF resulted in Rolling Stone hailing U2 as 'The Band of the 80's'.

“Beating Michael Jackson.”

War knocked Thriller off number 1. In the UK.

Who had the bigger decade?

Could "Beating MJ" possibly have resulted in this?

I just find this mindset of “beating MJ” and “winning the 80s” and so on hilarious.

Like, I just like some good chunes, yo. They don’t have to be Tom Brady.

That would be unbearable.

I just find this mindset of “beating MJ” and “winning the 80s” and so on hilarious.

I have down the last 20 years plus participated in and read a lot of online forums dedicated to musical acts and general music ones too and in my experience there is no artist with more fans online who for some reason really put massive importance in being 'the biggest' 'selling the most' 'winning the most' etc than u2.

It baffles me why it seems to matter to some so much - and why it is so prevalent in u2 fans.
Since 1995.....
