I think it could be interesting: a thrillogy! But what will it be about?

SOI: childhood / being a band / fear
SOE: family / death
SOA: ?

And if we know that: do we want it?

If I understand the meaning of 'ascent' well, it means 'rise up' or 'promotion'. So it could be about being rockstars and that stuff and knowing people listen to you.

Also, the cover art. Could be cool Bono is a grandpa then, and puts a artful picture of his third generation. Or Adam's child, to stay at the kids of the band members

I'm hoping when they tour SoA, the stage fills with mist and they rise up into the air and disappear (the mist is to obscure the harnesses). Or they could re-use the lemon and ascend in that.

if SOA were as good as the bulk of SOE,  then yeah i am all for it.  No idea what it would be about thematically but keep singing like a bird as long as you don't rain shit on us down below

I'd always read the title as meaning something spiritual or transcendent. Ascending towards what bono might call God

SOA will have songs about rising above the fear, and conquering death.  They will be in their 60's by the time it gets released so it will be about senior citizens, and sadly, retirement.  Edge is already a grandpa, so the album cover could have Edge's granddaughter.  (I doubt Bono will ever become a grandfather unless one of his son's has a kid)

So, ascent is more like 'rising up' physical than 'rise up' in career?

Could be interesting: an album (or EP) full of (kind of) psalms. But it should be a side project

Hmm, okay!

But there should be another tour, also. There isn't another stage besides the I- and e-stage called the A- stage. Could be a Vertigo/Elevation-tour shaped stage?

Maybe I'm dreaming too much in this stage of release of SOE  ;)

The title references Psalms 120 to 134.  They are traditionally called the "Songs of Ascent" and would be sung as the Hebrew people took their pilgrimage and ascended the hill to Jerusalem during the festival time.  Every day getting closer to the City of God and the Temple of God and therefore the Presence of God.

I think that the album would really hit on those types of themes.  Much more spiritual and big picture.  Kinda a focus on the ethereal and what happens when we leave this plane.
