Have you personally witnessed a rarely played u2 track LIVE?
« on: March 09, 2022, 12:01:33 PM »
Have you ever been at a u2 gig and the band played something that is rarely played?
I recall at the Glasgow Zoo TV Gigs, u2 played Zooropa, which was only played a couple of times on that tour and remained a rarity until the 360 Tour (i think)
Also, at one of the Glasgow shows, Edge sang The Lost Highway (not a u2 song, but very rarely played)
What about you? Have you experienced a rarely played tune at a u2 gig?
In the garden I was playing the tart
I kissed your lips and broke your heart
You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

Maybe not that rare but Wild Horses, 30 years ago this month.

It was the only disappointing song in the set.

I got to see Bono sing the first couple verses of The Wanderer in Nashville back in 2011. That's probably as close as we'll ever get to a full performance.

And the following night, Ordinary Love. Which was quite good, actually.

I remember in 1987 reading that playing One Tree Hill would be too painful for Bono, but then they played it at the JT show I went to in L.A. and I freaked out, thinking that we got some kind of special treat that no other audience had gotten. I was young and there was no Internet.

I got Miracle Drug at Vancouver 2 on I+E.  I was happy to hear it but the crowd disagreed with me.  They tried a new mix of the song iirc, it was good but not great.

Not sure if they ever played MD after the Vertigo tour?  If not then I guess that counts as rare.

The night before (1st show of the tour) they did The Troubles.  Again, not sure if that counts as 'rare' but it sure hasn't been played a ton.

Oh, and Springhill Mining Disaster although that's not a U2 song obviously.
