Popular Albums You Have Never Heard?
« on: April 13, 2021, 12:39:49 PM »
What are the popular albums in music that, for whatever reason, you have never got to hear?

I will start with

Nirvana - Nevermind
The Rolling Stones - Exile On Main Street

I will try and make a point to put this right on my next Spotify Sesh

Exile on Main Street is amazing. A gritty, sleazy, drug infueled dive into rock, country, and soul. The album capped off the best album run in rock history (Beggars Banquet, Let It Bleed, Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main St.)

At the time the Stones were in English tax exile and relocated to France. They recorded the album in the basement of a mansion Keith Richards rented. Keith would sleep all day so they recorded and partied through the night.

Most of the big albums in pop music the last 15 years...yeah, dodged that shit.

When you say "Popular Albums You Have Never Heard," do you mean "never heard anything from them," or "never heard anything beyond the single(s)?"

Punk isn't great music, it's more about attitude and a pose and that's what the Sex Pistols were.  Going on television and swearing, such cheeky chaps.  The Clash were so much better.

The Sex Pistols and The Clash were just as manufactured as the Spice Girls.  Joe Strummer was a long-haired hippy before record execs changed his image.

I bought Exile on Main Street and only listened to it once.  That was a few years ago but it sounded like a blues album to me and i'm not into the blues.  The story behind the album is more legendary than the actual album IMO.

Well the Stones are a bluesy band.  Tumbling Dice is legendary.
