Love it.
No spoken words, just a scream

But the highlight of this version is a few seconds before when Bono launches into two primal screams of something that sounds like “help”. Many years later I heard the story of how they had buried Bono’s Father just days before the show and how Bono thought he would lose his voice. It gives me shivers just to think about it. Not my favourite song, but a very good show starter on this tour.

Wow interesting backstory. Thank you for that.

Didn't he once claim that when someone close to you dies they leave you a gift? I suspect that gift was keeping his voice a bit longer than he might have otherwise, given his libations.

If you jump, you just might fall. Poor old an tha...doesn't know how to use his wings. Oh, that's right...devil's don't have wings.

  • If you shouldn't, don't.
Although elevation is unquestionably a bit rubbish as a song, I have to admit it worked very well as an opener for the elevation tour. Playing arenas, great set lists, bono in fine voice, a stripped back stage that wasn't gimmicky and edge, who was on fire. What a tour that was.

Yeah, as bad as the lyrics are, them coming out to the song playing and then joining with it was an awesome opening.

Elevation has aged well.  Recognizable and simple.  The album version bridge is one of the highlights of the 2000s

The appropriate opener in this case.  I actually didn't even mind it on the Vertigo Tour.  I'm just kind of surprised at the mileage it has had beyond that.
