buddy cop movies
« on: November 27, 2017, 03:00:44 PM »
what happened to the great buddy cops movies of yesterday? long gone are the Lethal Weapons, Beverly Hills Cop, Bad Boys, Rush Hour films.

i've been thinking bout how much i love that sub-genre of action films and thought i'd ask if anyone else here loves them as much as i do?

any recommendations we can give each other would be awesome too!

Hot Fuzz was good.

i didn't get the hype. the british humor does nothing for me. i did love the constant Point Break and Bad Boys II references.

They're regarded as sexist and outdated in todays cultural environment.

I guess they could make a movie of Cagney and Lacey, though whoever they picked to play their parts would be shit compared to Sharon Gless and Tyne Daly.

Not for a 'buddy' cop film, IMO.

Didn't they kind of re-make it already with Sandra Bullock and Mellissa Macarthey?

yea this is the newest one i can think of. there are others from the 80's but they clearly weren't Lethal Weapon level successes.
