Refreshing interview with Eve Hewson

https://www.dublinlive.ie/news/celebs/bono-like-crazy-stage-mum-19831496

Good to read positive stuff about Bono and that he has been a good dad and partner all his life and still have his childhood friends around.

I dont think people who slate Bono know the story behind the man. He can be obnoxious for the outside world, but I am sure he means well with every fibre in his bones. Not sure why people give out to him when all he tries to do is good and give back to the world. Just because he has his business in the Netherlands instead of Ireland.

Anyway, nice interview, enjoyed reading that.

I agree Bono means well. He's just a bit naive on how others perceive his self-aggrandizement, which is to him always benevolence.

Yeah I've always got the impression Bono is fundamentally a good dude in spite of how annoying he can sometimes be.

Well, if that verse is true,
there's hope for me and you.

Goddamnit, U2, listen to your kids!!! Best way to be “relevant.”

The Edge: “[Eno] would love to see us making albums a bit more like [Zooropa]. Where we go, ‘You know what? We’re not going to second-guess any of this. Let’s just go for it.’”

U2 Fans: We'd all love to see that, Edge.

I have yet to meet someone who’s interacted with Bono and say that he’s not a nice, decent, down to earth bloke.
Fans, record company people, friends of friends...

I suspect he's a normal family guy who, like most people, is mostly good. Virtually everyone I know does charity work, raises a family in the best way they can, helps grannies across the road, that kind of thing.

Problem is bonos public image which is a mixture of preachy annoyance with more than a hint of the messiah complex. I preferred it when U2 were a bit more modest.

A good friend met him in a hotel during the Montreal stint of i&e. That’s exactly what he told me; very down to earth, shy even.

That’s what he said. Bono was alone that evening, no posse, no other band members. Maybe it had to do with that.

I guess some context could do here, was he in an elevator or sitting in a bar, or dining alone?

Does make sense that he needs his private time now and then

I know a cop who worked at l’Élysée (French White House) when Jacques Chirac was president. He shared a cigarette with Bono just outside a meeting room. No cameras, no crowd. He said he felt like Bono was « one of us ». Random cigarette break talk.
