What happened to Ryan Tedder
« on: February 12, 2021, 03:13:57 AM »
18 months ago he claims that he was working on producing new U2 album, and we have not heard anything from him since. I can only hope that u2 dropped the idea and that the album will be produced by someone who will bring out the best in them

He’s in the CBD business now, and he also sold most of is music catalogue to an investment firm.

you have to wonder how producers would think about the prospect of working with U2 these days.

do they want their names attached to the mix of decent/middling songs and utter crap they are likely to put out?  do they want the hassles of micromanagement?  are they OK with the possibility (likelihood) of being fired when the band change their mind for the 100th time on the same record?

I would think not.

Trouble is u2 pay and any producer would probably want their name associated with such a high profile act.

The fact that the outcome is u2 produce utter shite doesn’t seem to bother either u2 or their producers.

I'm sure that was once true, but I have my doubts it is still the case today.   I suppose we will find out once the corporate U2 hit-seeking apparatus gets rumbling.

Ryan Tedder.

A band of u2's age/standing and supposed rock leanings shouldn't be seen dead working with likes of him.

Embarrassing stuff.

Ryan Tedder exploded while gardening in his back yard, mysteriously.  He is survived by his pet dog.

I would think most any producer would die for the chance to work with U2.

have you not observed the long trail of producer wreckage strewn across the U2 landscape over the past 15 years?

I agree with bono here in principle. SOE is still mostly shit, though

Bono said: “The popsters are beating the others on melody. Not in lyrics, not in their aesthetic, but they’re writing better tunes. That was not the case with The Beatles and the Stones. The Beatles were writing better tunes than the popsters and not compromising on their lyrics and their aesthetic. When Brian Burton [Danger Mouse] ran out of time to work with us – and he’s by far the biggest presence on the album as a producer – we got to work with Paul Epworth, we got to work with Ryan Tedder. Their only interest is in melody that you haven’t heard before and the uniqueness of it. So that changed the game for us.”
