Ahh yes, the 5th greatest album of all time! Unfortunate that we have to wait another 4 years for the 20th anniversary Box Set.

HTDAAB was the first U2 album I really got into, even before I truly delved into the band's discography. Crumbs From Your Table is still one of my top ten favorite U2 songs. I can't say it's one of my favorite albums as a whole anymore, but I always enjoy the rare occasion that I listen to HTDAAB in full. One Step Closer and Miracle Drug are two other standout tracks, though it took me a little longer to appreciate MD.

Also I think the cover's just fine. I don't see what sucks so much about it. The whole gimmick of adding "//" as many places as possible is kind of lame but that doesn't affect my opinion of the album really at all.

I love One Step Closer, Miracle Drug, SYCMIOYO, COBL, A Man and A Woman. And, I like the rest of them pretty well, too.

SYCMIOYO is excellent.

This live version from Milan makes me all moist. The vocal from 3:20 onwards is astonishing.

My Bomb playlist has 'Fast Cars', 'Electrical Storm' & 'The Hands that built America'. And excludes 'Yahwah'.

So packed full of quality.

Great tracks -

Vertigo
Miracle Drug
Sometimes
Love Peace or Else
Crumbs

Average tracks

COBL
ABOF
OOTS
OSC
AM&AW

Please No

Yahwah.

----------

In other words a typical U2 album. The 4 year wait was too long but U2 were getting older & the 3-4 gaps had started in the previous decade.

U2 entered the 90's in a different direction.
AB was quickly followed up with Zooropa. So everyone knew they stood for the forseeable

The noughties saw them change direction again with ATYCLB.

If Bomb had been a quickie Zooropa esq accompanying album in 2002 to cement the new U2, the album would have more fans. But as a stand alone album 4 years later, it gets slated by some.

This album has a lot of enjoyable songs and a few nearly great ones. And it was supported by a kick-ass tour IMO.
Hold on, people! The man's talking about waste management. That affects the whole damn planet.

I think the album is full of well crafted songs. Steve Lillywhite made them efficient.

Vertigo is a decent rocker, always entertaining live and the nod to « Boy » is cool.
First time I heard Miracle Drug I thought « hey maybe Edge still has it ».
Love and peace worked well live. I like the guitars, here.
A man and a woman is in the same category as Wild Honey, IMO. I like both.
I’ve always thought Crumbs was a cousin of Gone. Decent hook too.
One step closer is one of those songs, like the first time. Very laid back. Not easy to make this work.

All in all, not bad at all.
A dangerous idea that almost makes sense...
