Great work.

The journalist know his U2, knows his guitars, knows his Edge. Really good work overall.

The only song I'd remove is Unknown Caller. I find this solo utterly boring and it damages the song, IMO. I would have skipped it and gone straight to the organ part. I would have added Lemon for good measure, though. Maybe In a little while too. Not terribly original but it shows Edge playing soul.

I wonder why guitar critics love Unknown Caller so much? I like the song, but I don't love it, and I can't see how it's such a great solo. Like Soloyan, I prefer the organ bit.

^ CG i think the organ complements the guitar well, but it is possible they were looking for another post 2000 song to throw in the mix and this stuck out. Although i might have added my namesake  ;)

This is a pretty good list of songs though, would make a nice CD for those who like that sort of thing.

Song # 12 is currently blaring from my little speakers  :-*

Desire is a basic riff, nothing 'great' about it.

The Michael Brook guitar sound on WOWY is very effective but, again, it's hardly 'great' guitar playing.

Unknown Caller is not a great song, neither does it have a 'great' guitar part.

I can see why some of the other choices are on the list, though.

Edge is an effective guitar player, but I'm not sure he's a 'great' one.

It's interesting that this list of the 'greatest guitar parts' features one of the more mundane guitar moments from Boy. There are way better songs than that on the LP.

How a list like this has WOWY and One, but leaves out Wire and Zoo Station????

Thanks for sharing though, a good read...

WOWY is hardly just the "Michael Brook" sound.  The guitar part in that is an incredible arrangement, from the infinite part through the delay sections and the chords at the end, and tons of little details inbetween.  It's quite the tapestry.

It’s a nice guitar part but to call it ‘great’ is doing a disservice to the thousands of guitar players who are greater than David Evans.
