Its about time. This video has been absent from youtube, at least in official form, for years. I had to go to U2.com to view it.

2nd greatest U2 song ever, and their greatest video ever!

Not exactly "HD" but probably the best they could do with what they've got for this.  tbh I don't think it's that good a video, they look kinda silly out there in the cold and the video though the piano keys effect looks pretty bad.

Well, if that verse is true,
there's hope for me and you.

I was looking forward to seeing A Celebration get the remaster treatment. After seeing how poorly the NYD vid turned out, Im not overy hopeful now.
As for the NYD video itself....its a stonewall classic, in my world. It was the first u2 video i ever recall seeing. It is a fave of mine, for sentimental reasons.
In the garden I was playing the tart

You
You were acting like it was the end of the world

Over the past 35 years, its always been a pleasure of mine to see people's reactions to this video who had never seen it before. The best was one year during the Christmas holidays when several extended family members of different generations were gathered in the living room when the video came on and where mesmerized by what they saw and asking about it after it was over. I think what captivates people so much is how well the director mixed the shots of the band in the snow with older World War II footage of Russians and Germans fighting on the Eastern front, and the beautiful sunrise shots of the horses in the snow and woods. It makes for a very powerful video and has a timeless classic quality to it. Also the sky in some shots, I don't if its sunrise or sunset adds to the effect.

Under A Blood Red Sky was the first U2 album I ever purchased in the late 1980s. I was really just starting to build my CD collection at the time, although I liked the Joshua Tree and Rattle And Hum, I had sort of been turned off at the time by how much they got played, radio and MTV. I discovered the Under A Blood Red Sky album at a friends house I would often go over to, to hang out. At that house they listened to it a lot despite being more metalheads than rock fans. When they moved away, I missed the music from that album so much I had to go out and get it. Then a few months later for Christmas I got WAR and UF albums, my two first U2 studio albums.

So its probably not an exact fit for your definition, in that it occurred in the late 80s starting with listening and then buying Under A Blood Red Sky and then moving to the actual War album.

Think of it as a nickname. Some of the loyal Pop fans on here are referred to as "Pop Martians"

So a huge War fan like MPare1966 could be considered a "War Child"

OK. I’m always fascinated by the origin stories of fellow U2 fans.  :D

What would you call someone who is both a War Child and a Pop Martian?
